The next episode of ‘The Wonderful Us’ Podcast is dedicated to my two cats Ellie and Sasha. I actually completed the script for Episode 6 in August, but was unable to go ahead with the recording after Ellie’s unexpected death early that month. My two beautiful girls, who had been with me for most of my life since I moved to the West Midlands, were gone forever, and for so long, I was inconsolable, having also lost Sasha to lymphoma in June. But gradually, I have got used to our much quieter household. I will miss them, always, but I can now look back on our 12 precious years together and feel a little more of the sunshine that they brought into my life. The show will focus on pet ownership. More than 50% of households in the UK are estimated to own at least one pet. And, since the outbreak of COVID-19, there’s been an unprecedented increase in animal adoptions and purchases, as people seek animal companionship to tackle feelings of isolation and anxiety.
