In this edition of the podcast, Susan Pallister talks to Jonnie Noakes, Director of Teaching and Learning & Director of the Tony Little Centre for Innovation and Research in Learning at Eton College about his involvement in the ‘Rethinking Assessment‘ movement. Jonnie talks about the stranglehold of public examinations on schools and the way the current system of assessment prevents innovation in education. Jonnie suggests some workable alternatives to GCSE examinations, which may also help to reduce the increasingly high levels of stress and anxiety experienced by young people. In the programme, Jonnie explains how  Eton College works with schools and pupils in the maintained sector and makes reference to the College’s free Eton X online courses.
